YES! I've finished reading Harry Potter. Its a very great story. Hope J.K decided to write the O.V.A of it. Hehe. Wont be writing any thing abt it, cos if you wanna know the ending, why not just go into Wikipedia and to read it. It has extreme detail of the show. Very long dident blogged le. Ytd we went Yamaha and en the end it turned out to be just a learning school, There’s no shop there, what a waste, what a waste of time. After that went city allan’s music, its shop where they sold piano, music score and instruments. I brought a book of piano score, There are kina difficult to play. I hope I has enough time and effort to play finish the book. Then in the evening, we went Kenneth house for bbq and he brought us to casino! That’s my first time in the casino! Won a few bucks and lastly, we went pool. I was already very exhausted~! Reach home at 0300… Anyway, I sister might held her wedding next year June. ^_^ I’m totally excited about it~! Today we stayed at home whole day resting. Nothing exciting today. Haha.

Not every friend you have feels the same as you feel to them. That’s very sad if you know it… Sob~

This is what i have been writing for TP de. they wanna see my experience in adelaide... Why cant they just read my blog? Hehe~ Here goes nothing~

I am lucky that I am having my student internship overseas. I have been attached to the University Of Adelaide, Australia. There was once where I feel like backing out due to the cost and going without having paid. However, with much consideration and after talking to my family about it, my family encourage me to go despite of the amount they have bring out. This is also the first time I will be going overseas for a long period of time. This is the time when I could learn to be independent and gain as much experience as all of us could in terms of leaving with friends under one roof.

Upon arriving, I got stopped together with Trixie because I actually did not declare some food items which I have forgotten. I did not expect the immigration regulations are so strict. However, the security said it’s alright and just let us pass. We then took a cab from airport all the way to the services apartment centre and then to our apartment which cost about AU$30. Compared to Singapore, I think cab in Australia is cheaper due to the distant travelled and cab allows five people to squeeze in a four sitter cab. The most people here are very friendly. When you happen to meet any strangers in the neighbourhood, they will greet you with a smile. Or when you boarded every bus, all of the bus captain will greet words like ‘hi’, ‘good morning’ and when alighting, they will say ‘have a nice day’ or ‘take care’. If someone were to greet you near your neighbourhood, you may just avoid the person and thinking whether was he crazy or being too friendly.

When shopping for groceries, there come the similarities in Singapore. Super market here encourage everyone to bring their own Green beg so as to reduce the use of plastic bags to save the environment. The level of ozone protecting us from UV rays is very low in Adelaide which is located at the south of Australia and too much sunlight causes skin cancer so these is why the Green beg is encourage here, in Australia. Buying groceries is hard to compare with Singapore, beef, pork and some fruits are cheap. A box of tissues which cost about AU$3 per box is very expensive compare with Singapore.

Food here is expensive compare to Singapore. The weirdest thing is most of the food centre here sold Asian food. Western foods are mostly fast-food example McDonalds, KFC, Subway and Hungry Jack which is Singapore’s Burger King. Either fast food or restaurants so we have not tried any local delight yet. Fast food cost five to eight dollars for a meal and Asian food cost eight and above for a dish! Asian food is as nice as food in Singapore even though the restaurant looks high class and cost is high too. I also realise that there is no restaurants selling Halal food which I think is a barrier to all the Muslims or Malay friends that planning to visit Adelaide.

When we arrived to the university on the second day, we were warmly welcomed by Dr Yung, who is a Vietnamese. She started introducing herself to us by telling us that she taught in one of the poly in Singapore for 6-7 years before coming to the University of Adelaide. Next she confirms the projects we are doing and who is our supervisors before introducing us to the head of department, Professor Keith King. Lastly, we were brought to Mary, the administration stuff who do our entire document and bring us to our office. We were invited to a weekly tea party to bond all the stuff members and post-graduates. I think this is a good practice so as to bring down the stress and making the work place a nicer place to work at.

My supervisor will be away for two weeks. However, I am lucky enough that I have someone who will be taking over temperately. Jeffery, who is currently taking is PhD, he has already taught me how to make an emulsion along with the methods and how to use the apparatus; sonicator and the optical microscope. The practice here is very different. Lab coat is not a must to wear because for my experiment, I only deal with non harmful chemical like kerosene and water. They also has some similarities is that glove must be worn when handling chemicals and organic solution must be contained into another container for disposal. When using a micropipette, a new cartridge is use whenever a different sample is being extracted onto the glass and also, the glass that is use to put the sample can be thrown away, which means it is not a must to recycle them. There is also a thin piece of glass which was used to flatten the sample so as to make sure that there is light passing through the sample on the glass, it is usually thrown away after used. I think it’s a waste to throw away everything glass piece. Why can’t they put a recycling bin so as to throw used glasses and they can maybe wash it and recycle it rather then throwing it away. It seems to have contradicting the ‘Green’ bag they used in supermarket. Its like one minus one equals to zero, the ultimate result will be nothing.

Working pace in Adelaide is slower then Singapore. However, they still get their jobs done on time. This could be due to number of aged in the Adelaide. On our stay here, I’ve seen as much elderly then young people. It seems that most of the young generation have move to a more hectic city like Sydney or Melbourne. It has been around three weeks that we subscribe to the internet and it is still in progress, what worse is that they had already cut our bills. However, the stress level seems lower then what we have experience in Singapore.

Entertainment here is just like visiting the countryside; Adelaide is a very small city. Chinatown here is quite small and mostly are restaurants. Their working hours is different. Everyday, the working hours is usually from 0800 to 1700 that’s include Saturday and Sunday. However, for Thursday, in the suburban area, the working hour extends to 2100 and for Friday, working hour extends to 2200 in the city area. Other then shopping, there is the Zoo, the botanic garden and the museum. The outskirts of Adelaide are all vineyard and farm which we are still planning when to go. Watching a movie is very expensive which cost from $8 to $13.

Lastly, I feel that this trip to Adelaide will benefit me greatly in terms of the experience, to be independent and the things learn. I have already felt that I understand what my project is about and how to do it. However, my supervisor left me more question unanswered and I have to find the answer myself, it’s unlike poly life where we could ask the lectures what we do not understand and they will help to make us understand better. Overall, staying with friends is something not everyone experience and I will use this opportunity to learn and have fun together.

Weex~ I got my Harry Potter and with a very cute owl beanie. ^_^ Oh yeah, I got Soul Eater book when I pre-order Harry Potter. Today’s a day where I stay at home and enjoy relaxing the weather and write my project thingy. ^_^ I just love the relaxing time. Haha~ heard that weather in Sg is cooling when I thought I could escape the hot summer in sg. I just hope that when I reach back Sg, I wont be that hot. I just love sg even thought how hot it is cos I have my family, my relative, my sweety, my friends and my home. ^_^

Wee weex~ Today we walked to the parade after paying our phone bill. Here’s the map to the parade, its around 3 hours walk while sight seeing. Ultimately, we dident got tired. The parade is a shopping street. Walked there till 1700 and they wanna go play pool so I just tag along. Cant take my Harry Potter book today cos the shop close at 1700. Sob sob. Tml I ask Trixie go take cos I dun feel like going out, I got lots of things to do tml. Their pool place is just like the previous pavilion but was even smokier. We ate mac again… Theres today, nothing much. ^_^

Today stayed at home watch ant bully we borrowed from State library. It’s a very nice show about this boi who always spray water and destroy the ant colony. One day, the ant wizard turn him into ant size human and his punishment was be with the ant will he prove that its time for him to be human back. I really like the show till I suddenly feel like talking to an ant. LOL! Hehe.
After that I went playing game till dinner. LOL! Then after that play lan game then lastly watch popolocrois. I just love the show, so cute and nice, I just love Narcia!!! ^_^

Hm… Yesterday went central market for dinner, ate chicken rice which was so bad that it spoiled my appetite… Its really very bad for something to spoil my appetite and cost 6.80 bucks for the stoopit meal… The Chinese food here can be very bad at some place and mac, which is nicer, cost only 5.75 for a big mac meal, with drink somemore. Today, we had steam boat for dinner. Kenneth, who is the post grad taking masters bring the steam thingy here. We got our food for today at central market yesterday which cost the total of 60 bucks for 6 persons. Erm… Dunno whether izzit cheap or expensive… I think is bu she de bah. Cos spend kina much for last 11 days… Sob… Scare over spend… So I must really eat less and spend less. ^_^ Really missed sg de cheap and nice food. MATTHEW!!! Come here early~~~ Wahaha~ Wish more people can come see me. Hehe. Wish and hope only lar… Nighty nite~

Weex~ I’ve watched Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix today!~ Nice movie if you dident read the book and yet understand the show. Weird movie if you don’t understand the show cos its quite confusing in the movie without sub titles… Some times, I can hardly understand what are they trying to say, either too soft or the back ground is too loud. Overall it was good, the effect where they was fighting was exciting but abit too fast. Have to watch properly and lastly, do not compare it with the book. Hehe~

Today is a very slack day, we leave school around 1200. We went to make our metro card and then went to make our school card. We brought lunch and packed to school. After that went into our room, I wrote my SIP book and log book finally. I then went to look for Jeffery to ask him about my project. In short, its actually researching the effect of adding different size of particle into different concentration of emulsion. Yup, that’s all. After that we went to the cinema to watch Transformers! Wow. Let me write a short review; far from our home planet, there’s another planet with lots of robots and they were having a war, then there’s a cube which is able to turn any electronic equipment to robots. So the good robots will wanna destroy the cube, the bad robot wanna use the cube to rule the universe. So by the story, the cube appears to ‘fall’ into earth. The bad robot, in search of the cube, will do anything to find the cube which includes killing people and the good robot, in search of the cube, went to find this guy who holds the clue of finding it. Yeah. There’s lots of effect in the movie which makes it nice. Well, it’s a nice show. I reckon you guys watch it. Hehe. By the time you guys read this, just buy the vcd. LOL~!

We had breakfast cooked by Kenny, who woke up early to cook for us. Cool man. ^_^ After that, chatted till 1300 and we leave to play for our renter fee and we walked to town which was very far… Walked around and then got chocolate and DVD for us to watch tonight. Went home and cooked broccoli with oyster source, teriyaki chicken and lastly home made fries. However, its somehow not like fries but still nice to eat. Haha. Nothing much today too… Hmm gonna sleep now~ Nitez~ Missed sweety…

Today will be short. Stayed at home for the whole day cos we want a day rest at home, we have been out for past few days and abit tired le. We played hero siege by lan together. Play then eat lunch, then cook ba kut tay for dinner. Took whole afternoon to cook it. Then by 1400 we went out for a while to buy chicken bones to put into the soup cos the supermarket dun have pork rib. The soup took 2 hrs to boil and complete. LOL! Ate ba kut tey, fried vege with oyster source and sauggae egg with rice. No pic though… However, its nice. Hehe. Played game for the rest of the day then sleep. >.<>

Sob. Still no internet… Today, we went to the university to meet up with Dr Yung. She’s a friendly person, kinna slack also; cos we reached there at 0900, then she said wah, why so early, yes I said 0900 but next time come at 0930. Then, we were like
-_-` lol. Next, we went to Mary to go through our safety induction quiz and there is a button which says: click here for answer. When clicked, a whole doc will appear and you have to read it up, if still dun understand, we can asked around or really donno, ask Mary. LOL. We were then brief about where our office will be located, when and where is the tea party located, introduce to the post graduate and chat about where we stay etc. Every week, they had a tea party where everybody sit down, drink some tea and chat. That’s only include the admin staff, teaching staff and post gradates. We are guest to them so we are invited into the tea party. After the tea party, we went back to Mary and ask us whether we have anything more to do. She said nothing more and we can go do anything we want, so we went to Dr Yung then she said nothing else for today and said we can walk around town since we haven’t been at town. Therefore, we end up In TOWN!!! Wee wee~ Our mission is to buy adaptor cos aus plug is weird way of three pin plug. Haha. Weiwei, Kenny and Benson ate sushi for lunch and I and Trixe ate Hungry Jack, which is burger king in SG. Time pass very slowly when we were walking aimlessly around the shopping area and we become very tired at 1500. We then went to our town shopping area to buy seafood for cooking. Hehe~ after that went back home for dinner and then played some tai tee. LOL! After that pak dota. LOL. We play till 12 sia. Sleep so late. Haha. Then nitez~~

Weex! I’m in the apartment now and its quite spacious. Nicer then my sis’s house in UK and what’s more, its by itself! I’m staying in a landed! Quite troublesome actually, need to climb up and down to go to our bedroom and to living room or kitchen. We took a cab to the services then to our apartment at 0800 we leave the airport and around 0900 we reach our wonderful apartment. Airplane ride was only 6hr 20mins so reach there earlier then expected and we didn’t really get enough rest in the plane. I think only 1-2hrs of sleep so when we reach the apartment; they were like half dead already and we need to buy groceries so we cannot mor already. We went around the nearest shopping place cwhich take 10 min walk from our apartment to the supermarket. Walk till 1330 and brought food and toiletries that worth 137AUD, hoping most are able to last for 1 week. Brought at a places called Cooles. It’s fun going out with my Kanga mates. Haha. We were like: Hey buy this lar cooles brand, cheaper leh cos house brand wad... We actually had hard time bringing those things home cos its very windy and things are very heavy. Wah~ Reach home finally and baked the laggsania we brought for lunch. Was damn exhausted and after packing, everyone was like so damn tired, some went to take nap and I was using lappy while waiting for it to cook. After lunch, I played some ds and fall asleep till around 1800 and went cook dinner. Dinner was done by Kenny, Benson and ME! Hehe~ After dinner, we played abit of dota and my lappy was dieing soon. So I went bath at 2200 and sleeping soon le. Hehe. >.<

We didn’t bring enough universe adaptors. So we have to share with 2 only… until we found the place where got sell. No internet connection also… Sob. So blogged when I reach university. Hehe. Missed you guys~
